REMINDER – Malley’s Chocolate Pick-up

Malley’s pickup dates are this Tuesday and Wednesday March 19th and March 20th from 4:30 till 6:30 at the concession stand, located on the right side of the Middle School by the football stadium. All orders except online orders must be picked up during this time.

Online orders will continue until March 25th and will be shipped to your home in time for Easter. All orders $50 and over are shipped for FREE!

Malley’s Easter Candy Sale

Get an early start on purchasing your Easter candy!
The Avon Band and Orchestra Boosters are having a Malley’s Easter Candy Sale for students in grades 5-12. A percentage of the sale for students in Middle and High School band and orchestra will go into their trip accounts to offset future trips or band camp. This is a great way to start saving for the Spring 2014 Disney trip! A percentage of ALL sales go into the general fund and benefit ALL students grades 5-12 to provide instruments, music , and supplies for both band and orchestra programs.
• We would like to encourage the use of online ordering .It is fast and easy! Directions on order forms with ID number. Include grade.
• Online orders $50 or greater are delivered to your home for FREE!! You can combine orders with a friend to make it $50.
• Complete the order form, include grade, and tally all orders and return the bottom portion to your student’s director
• PLEASE INCLUDE ONLY ONE (1) CHECK WITH ORDER MADE OUT TO AVON BAND AND ORCHESTRA BOOSTERS (ABOB) NO CASH PLEASE ! Orders will be returned with multiple checks or incomplete forms. Remember name, phone, and grade legibly.

Chocolate Symphony on Saturday, February 23rd

Dear orchestra families,

This is just a reminder about our annual district wide string festival, Chocolate Symphony #3, on Saturday, February 23rd.

Performance schedule (students should arrive at AHS room 181 30 minutes prior to performance time for warmup and tuning)

12:00 5th grade
12:50 6th grade
1:40 HS Philharmonic
2:30 7th grade
3:20 HS Chamber
4:10 HS Sinfonia
5:00 8th grade

Also, if your student has not brought in the requested donation item, please make sure this is brought to Mr Martin or Mrs. Willett by this Friday. Here is a reminder for what your students should bring:

5th grade violins: one package of chips ahoy (or similar type cookies)
5th grade violas, cellos, basses: one package of Oreos (or similar type sandwich cookies)
6th grade violins: one box of vanilla wafers
6th grade violas, cellos, basses: one box of graham crackers
7th grade violins: paper plates
7th grade violas, cellos, basses: one package of disposable cups
8th grade (all): one bag of mini candy bars
HS Sinfonia (all): one package of rice crispy treats
HS Philharmonic violins: one bag of marshmallows (not mini)
HS Philharmonic violas, cellos, basses: one package of paper napkins (200 count or comparable)
HS Chamber (all): one bag of pretzels

Students are expected to dress nicely, (no tshirts, jeans, tennis shoes, etc) but are not expected to wear black and white concert attire.

Admission cost is $5 for adults and children 6 and over. Cost for Seniors 60 and over and veterans is $3, and children under 6 and performers are free.

Band a la Mode – Saturday, February 16th

3:30 PM Middle School Jazz Band
4:05 PM High School Wind Ensemble
4:40 PM Winter Drum Line

Performers should arrive at the high school no later than 25 minutes before their performance time. Performers should dress nicely (no jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes, sweats, etc.) but are not required to wear black and white attire.

5th, 6th, and 7th Grade Band Members are asked to bring a baked good (cookies, brownies, etc.) in a perishable container to be served along with the ice cream at the event.

Admission is $5 for adults and children 6 and older. Adults 60 and over and military veterans will be admitted for $3. Children 5 and under and performers will be admitted for free.

Attendance for performers is mandatory. Please understand that our performances are equivalent to tests in other classes. Unfortunately, there are no “make-up” concerts. Of course we realize that conflicts do arise. However, there are only two or three concerts each year while most other activities have multiple meetings/practices/etc. So please make every effort to be at the concert. If you have a conflict with the concert, communicate with us in advance so that we may be aware of the problem and can try to come up with a reasonable resolution to the situation.

Come out to share some wonderful music and a little dessert with us.

Pancake Breakfast

This Sunday is the annual Avon Band and Orchestra Boosters Pancake Breakfast at the Avon High School on Detroit Rd from 9am -1pm Tickets are $7 for 5-59 $6 for 60 and over and under 5 are free. Tickets are sold at the door.Come out and enjoy a delicious breakfast and some festive music by the Avon Middle and High School Jazz bands and High School Quartets and support the outstanding instrumental music programs in the Avon schools
